Colombia - Divino Niño - Geisha - Washed Process
This coffee comes to us through Osito, a company started in 2014 with the goal of developing more security for producers. They offer about market pricing which is fixed price, meaning that producers who sell through Osito have more flexibility and a more reliable customer. Divino Niño is a group of smallholders who's lots are combined to produce large enough quantities for export. The lots are purchased at much higher than commodities prices, for the exceptional fruit they receive. This geisha is a blend of five producers lots; Yamir Anacona, Eugenio Cantillo and his son Jose Eugenio Cantillo, Javier Cantillo and Edgar Garcia Ossa.
In 2025 we've, in honesty, struggled to fill the rotation of coffees for our "exotic" lineup. The problem has been two-fold, firstly the high price of the C-Market this year has meant that we increased the price we're willing to pay for lots that fall within our "single origin" offering. The change subsumed a number of coffees that, probably, in previous years would've fallen into our "exotic" offering. Secondly, we've been trying to find coffees of good value for quality and, with the increased market prices, these lots have been in short supply; with many purchased prior to shipping. And at the smaller volumes we purchase these coffees in, it's been hard to secure lots that we can guarantee are worth the additional cost to our customers.
We've been tasting Osito coffees in the roastery since they launched in Australia in 2023, however we hadn't yet managed to line up a coffee at the right time for us until now. Of all of the coffees on Osito's list, this Geisha was by far our favourite. The sample frequently featured as a crowd favourite in both public and our internal cuppings. It's a classic Huila profile with all of the elegance and complexity that the varietal is known for, the exact kind of coffee we're always looking for and a pleasure to be able to offer.
