Testi means happiness in the Harrari language, native to the local region around the Huke mill. Testi Coffee was founded by Faysel A. Yonis who built the mill in Huke in 2021. This coffee certainly brought us some happiness when we cupped it, amongst other samples from importer MCM, earlier this year. It's an elegant and complex Ethiopian, another fantastic lot that's processing adds to the character of the cup elevating it's classic character to another level.
The Premium lots produced by Testi each year are paid extra to farmers who bring exceptional quality cherry to the mill. The program, started in 2018, gives opportunity for the small hold farmers within the region to receive more money for exceptional growing and picking. There are around 500 farmers who bring cherry to the Huke station and this lot represents the very best quality coffee available from the region.

We think this information should be normal, not exceptional. Here’s what we know about this coffee.
Ethiopia
FOB is the price paid for the coffee before shipping, insurance and local costs.
Our landed cost is what the coffee cost us by the time it reached the roastery.
Neither number is the farmer’s final income, and landed cost is not our total cost to roast and sell the coffee, but it gives a clearer picture of the economic impact of our business.
