This coffee was sourced through Melbourne Coffee Merchants, after tasting one of the Kenyan lots they bought last year, we decided we should endeavour to get onto their buying list for 2025. The coffees we've purchased through MCM have been excellent and we're happy to say that this lot continues that trend.
The Kiama FCS owns four factories on the South West side of Mount Kenya with Kiamaina processing cherry from around four hundred and fifty of the co-op's three thousand members. The co-op started in 2005 and provides resources to it's members including financing and training, and even recently the provision of shade tree seedlings to encourage more ecologically resilient farming practices.
In the cup we find rich toffee sweetness and complex fruitiness, given it's high acidity. We've always been fans of Kenyan coffee so this likely comes as little surprise, but it's a coffee that's truly excellent and thanks to MCM for bringing it in!

We think this information should be normal, not exceptional. Here’s what we know about this coffee.
Kenya
FOB is the price paid for the coffee before shipping, insurance and local costs.
Our landed cost is what the coffee cost us by the time it reached the roastery.
Neither number is the farmer’s final income, and landed cost is not our total cost to roast and sell the coffee, but it gives a clearer picture of the economic impact of our business.
